Happy Thursday, or Friday Eve as I like to call it!

I designed this printable exclusively for my blog readers. I hope you love it as much as I do! My plan is to make the Friday Eve Freebie a weekly thing. Click the link below to download and print. It is an 8×10– I would recommend using card stock if you have any on hand.

What are your plans for the weekend? I have about a million and one things on my to do list, which may or may not include baking a very delicious fall dessert that I will share with you next week.  Until then, I will be kicking up my feet, flipping on the HGTV, and pouring myself a big ol’ glass of vino. Enjoy your night my friends!

First Entry

First of all, I would like to welcome you to Boxwood Cottage!

Blogging is something that has always intrigued me and scared me at the same time. I know I have spoken to many of you on Instagram who have expressed the same feelings. There are so many wonderful bloggers out there, it can be very intimidating! “How will I, (little ol’ me) get noticed in the sea of incredibly talented bloggers?” Yes, I’ve asked myself that same question. My answer to that is, “who cares!” A blog should be a creative outlet for YOU! Yes, of course you want people to read along and enjoy what you’re presenting, but at the end of the day, all you can do is be true to who you are and do what makes you happy.

I really started getting into home decor when I began my Instagram account about a year ago. It was originally intended to be a business page for my Esty store- Banner St. Boutique. I can’t really say exactly what prompted me to go from posting pictures of banners to sharing photos of my home, all I know is that I was hooked. My style has evolved and grown so much, even in just last year. If I had to describe it in a few words, I would say french country farmhouse, if there is such a thing. This answer could also change depending what day you catch me; I change my mind like crazy! All in all, I really enjoy anything that can tell a story. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a genuine vintage piece, but something that makes your mind wander to a different place in time.

Now, lets take a little trip down memory lane…

I’m gonna try to make this short and sweet, because if I’m being honest I am not the best story-teller, especially when its comes to my life story. I grew up in Gilbert, Arizona… yes, its true you can fry eggs on your dashboard in the summer time. But life was good, and up until a few years ago I would have never pictured leaving.

I met my husband Brandon the summer of 2012. It’s such a cliché but I just knew he was ” the one.” Things moved really quickly for us and we were married 6 months later… 3 days after that, he left for boot camp. Let me tell you, that was not easy, but we made it and are much stronger as a couple because of it.

Fast forward a few years…We are now living in the amazing state of North Carolina. We have adjusted really well to the slow-paced southern lifestyle. I often wonder how I ever survived those 120 degree summers in Arizona, and how I lived with out the beautiful green trees, oh… and seasons. My husbands military career didn’t last as long as we had hoped due to an injury, but as they say “everything happens for a reason.” We have fallen in love with NC and we have decided to stay for good. We even got my Mom to move out here and are hoping the rest of the family will follow suit. *hint hint*

Oh right, back to the decor–

So, here we are living the good life in our cozy little rental. “Cozy” is the nice way of saying small if you didn’t know that (; It may not be our dream home, but we are happy here.

I am so excited to be here, and I hope you will follow along on my blogging journey. My plan is to give you all the goodies like DIY, decor inspiration, recipes, and everything else in between.
